With a few hectic last few weeks of 2013, I managed to make it (safely and with no delays) to IEEE ICDM 2013 in a frosty Dallas, TX. With the objective of presenting these two papers from our lab:

J. M. Banda, C. Liu, R. A. Angryk. “Region-based Querying Using Descriptor Signatures for Solar Physics”. To appear In 2013 IEEE International Conference on Data Mining Workshops (ICDMW 2013) – Astroinformatics workshop. [Download Pre-Final Version in PDF]

P. McInerney, J. M. Banda, R. A. Angryk. “On Using SIFT Descriptors for Image Parameter Evaluation”. To appear In 2013 IEEE International Conference on Data Mining Workshops (ICDMW 2013) – Astroinformatics workshop. [Download Pre-Final Version in PDF]

You can find the slides for these presentations here: “Region-based Querying Using Descriptor Signatures for Solar Physics” and “On Using SIFT Descriptors for Image Parameter Evaluation”.

Also one of our already accepted papers (M.A. Schuh, J. M. Banda, P.N. Bernasconi, R.A. Angryk, P.C.H. Martens, "A Comparative Evaluation of Automated Solar Filament Detection”) will finally make its way to press. Two more journal articles are under review:

- J. M. Banda, M. A. Schuh, T. Wiley, R. A. Angryk, P.C.H Martens. "The Solar Dynamics Observatory Content-Based Image Retrieval System".

- J.M. Banda, R. A. Angryk, M.A. Schuh, P. C. H. Martens. "imageFARMER – A framework for the creation of content-based image retrieval systems".

As well as a new conference paper:

- J.M Banda and R.A. Angryk "Large-Scale Region-based Multimedia Retrieval for Solar Images".

In terms of patents, we have submited one patent to the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) and another one is underway. Please contact me for more details on this.
